A author can use satire to expose a flaw in a person or a group of people by the use of humor, exaggeration, or ridicule. Benjamin Franklin uses Exaggeration in his writing of “The Witch Trail at Mount Holly” to show the ridiculousness of the people accusing the man and women for making animals sing and dance. In the writing he says “charged with making their Neighbours sheep dance in an uncommon manner, and with causing Hogs to speak, and sing Psalms and to the great terror and amazement.” He is using exaggeration because it is impossible for animals to dance or sing. If you believe in this people would probably think you are crazy or going insane so Benjamin Franklin is saying that because these people actually believe this without seeing it is ridiculous.
